 TIPS FOR PREPARING TO VIEW HOMES
Whether you are looking at homes for an afternoon or relocating to the area and looking a homes for a week, you need to be prepared. Although looking for homes can be exciting and new, it can also be frustrating, exhausting and stressful, especially if you are not seeing the right match. Here are a few tip from experience.
1. Always eat a good meal before meeting your Realtor for your appointment. Even though you might be eatting lunch midday, your mind and body are not going to be up to their fullest if your stomach is growling and food is the only thing on your mind.
2. Be fair to your children. If you know you are looking at more than one or two houses in a particular time frame, think about getting a sitter. House hunting may be exciting to you, but that is not always the case with your children. They will fatigue quickly, get bored after the first few homes and looking for homes is sometimes stressful on children, especially if they are attached to their current one. Letting them help you decide between the final 2-3 homes is sometimes a great way to involve their decision and help generate excitement.
3. Do not get discouraged if you do not find your dream home on the first day. Sometimes the first appointment with your Realtor is all about them getting to know you and your taste. Take a deep breath, talk openly with your Realtor and/or spouse about your likes and dislikes. Many times the priorities that you started with will evolve and change as you develope a taste for the market and inventory. That is okay. It is part of the process.
